Hair porosity simply means how easily your hair absorbs moisture and how well it holds it. Once you know whether your hair is low, medium, or high porosity, choosing the right oil becomes much easier and much less confusing.
The goal is not to diagnose your hair perfectly. The goal is to understand how it usually behaves after washing, how fast it feels dry again, and whether oils seem to sit on top or disappear too quickly.
Spray test: Spray a little water on clean dry hair. If it beads and sits there, your hair may lean lower porosity. If it absorbs very quickly, it may lean higher.
Drying-time check: Think about how your hair behaves after washing. Hair that takes long to dry often leans lower porosity, while very fast-drying hair often leans higher.
Product behavior: If oils and masks often feel like they sit on top, you may lean lower porosity. If your hair drinks them up but still feels dry quickly, you may lean higher.
Low Porosity: Hair takes longer to get fully wet, often dries more slowly, and many oils or products feel like they stay on the surface. Usually better with: Root Revival Light, Repair Veil Light, Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil.
Medium Porosity: Hair feels more balanced. It usually absorbs moisture reasonably well without getting too dry too quickly or too coated too fast. Usually better with: Hair Thickness Maximizer, Root Revival Light, Repair Veil Light, Pumpkin Seed Oil.
High Porosity: Hair absorbs quickly, dries quickly, and often feels rough, thirsty, or frizzy again soon after washing. Usually better with: Root Revival Rich, Repair Veil Rich, Coconut Oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil.
Porosity is helpful, but it is not the only thing that matters. Your scalp, your routine, your concern, and how rich or light you want the oil to feel still matter too. That is why the Primora Oil Finder asks a few questions together instead of relying on porosity alone.
Hair porosity is how easily your hair takes in moisture and how well it holds it. It is one of the easiest ways to understand why one oil feels perfect and another feels wrong.
Not always, but it helps. If you know your porosity, your oil choice usually feels more accurate and easier to repeat.
Choose the answer that feels closest in the oil finder. If you are still unsure, the finder will still show one best match and one smart second option instead of a long list.
